Svendborg Architects and Skanska Nya Hem built 7 blocks with 116 flats, large balconies, 7.000 m² shops, and a new public park.

To avoid “a wall of housing” and connect the urban street with the park, the housing blocks were placed across the long, narrow site, creating passages between the stores and extending the park onto the roof above the shops.

The concept brings more life to the area through views, passages, and green spaces flowing between the housing blocks. The facades are angled to reduce scale, while the building heights respond to the surrounding urban context and sunlight conditions in Uppsala.

The facade pattern, inspired by snowflakes, appears white from a distance but reveals seven different colors up close, reflecting Uppsala’s color palette and helping navigation.

The project gained huge interest, with over a thousand visitors at the first selling meeting, and all homes sold before construction.
